DMKC Event Hospitality Timeline and Tasks
The timeline and expenses are from 2012 but it gives a rough estimate of the dates and costs.
May 24, 2012
Met with manager at Compagno’s and secured Sunday 7/15 on his catering calendar. Requested pick-up and committed to giving final order on July 3, in person.
May 25, 2012
Met with manager at Gino’s and secured Saturday 7/14 on his catering calendar. Requested delivery and agreed to place final order on July 5, in person.
Wednesday, July 11
Pick up basic hospitality items from the storage unit and inventory.
Give to the transportation chair a list of items to bring from storage i.e. coffee maker, microwave etc.
Thursday, July 12
Do “big shopping” at Costco.
Friday, July 13
Set-up hospitality room at 2 PM. Begin by moving school equipment from the classroom into the gymnasium.
Saturday, July 14, DMKC All Breed Show and Obedience and Rally Trials
Purchase ice at Save Mart by 6:30 AM.
Make coffee and set up breakfast items to be ready by 7:00 AM

Get ring judges’ lunch schedules to make sure to be set up for earliest lunch.
10:30 AM clear breakfast items and begin set-up for lunch delivery from Gino's
2:00 PM clear lunch items and set-up snacks
Sunday, July 15, DMKC All Breed Show and Obedience and Rally Trials

Summary of Strengths
Ongoing communication, via email, with hospitality committee members.
Checked with the specialty coordinator to see when the judges’ hospitality room was available for our decorating to begin. Some years the specialty breed clubs have asked to use the hospitality room for their judges' luncheons
At approximately 2:00 PM, set up the judges’ hospitality room.
Judges, stewards and DMKC members gave very positive feedback in regard to:
DMKC memorabilia that was on display in the hospitality room
Breakfast menus
Gino’s and Campagno’s lunches
Cheerful table decorations ( dog statues, books and photographs)
Expenditures for room hospitality totaled $1487.44 which was less than our budgeted allocation. Additionally, this amount also included supplies for ringside hospitality.
Combining hospitality room and ringside supplies worked seamlessly.
Summary of Suggestions for Improvement

Decorate tables with blue and white flowers.

Have paper towels at rings.

Bring black markers, paper and note cards.

Place tables a bit further apart, so people aren’t so cramped.

Order two salads, not three, from Campagno’s.

Omit vegetarian lasagna from Gino’s order.

Order an half order more cannelloni from Gino’s.

Serve more orange juice and less cranberry juices.

Have more bananas available.

Offer more strawberry, blueberry, cinnamon/raisin and less garlic and onion bagels.

Try serving the little bitty yogurts from Costco.

Order a few less veggie sandwiches.

Purchase sanitary hand wipes for judges at ringside.
